Bible Scripture Reading

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 9 March 2013, from Cindi, a Daughter of the King of kings and Lord of lords."

I am sorry that I have most a month of these Blog Writings but I have been sick with the flu.  Praise God I am feeling better and get these writings going back out again.  Today will be the last Chapter of Amos which will conclude the third of the 12 Minor Prophets, and then the one chapter of Obadiah before going into the Book of Jonah.  Thank you for visiting this sight.  If you would like to email me directly my email address is: cindilynn53@yahoo.com

Today's Blog Title: "The Future Restoration of Israel"
Today's Blog Scripture Reading: Amos 9:1-15
Today's Blog Key Verse: Amos 9:15 "I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them," Says the LORD your God."

In verses 9-10, which is the final prophecy, of "the Lord standing upon the altar, portrays the destruction of the idolatrous temple at Bethel.  This temple has given cohesiveness and direction to the Nation of Israel in her idolatrous defection from the Lord.  "Are you not like the people of Ethiopia to Me," refers that Israel had become like the pagans who surrounded her.

The Nation of Israel were counting on the fact that God's chose of Abraham would guarantee their present security.  But Israel became idolatrous just as the other nations around her and the same God that supervised the history of Israel, also supervised the pagan nations as well.  We as Christians are God's chosen people as well are are recipients of God's Grace.  But this is not a licence to sin, or to suppose that God has no concern for others.

"The sinful nation" in verse 9, is Israel.  "I will not utterly destroy," was a glimmer of hope in a long passage of judgment and doom.  God's judgment would be thorough, but a remnant of the people of Israel would survive.  What a lesson for us to learn in these verses.  We have taken comfort in supposing that ours is a "Christian Nation" that is important in God's Plans.  But we as a nation are as best a "city of man" and we have been temporary recipients of God's Grace, and we have been privileged to serve Him.  When our Nation begins to crumble as did the Nation of ancient Israel, we as Christians can take comfort in the fact that we are citizens of the "unshakable" City of God.

Despite the immediate prospect of a divinely directed disaster, the Book of Amos concludes on a note of hope.  God "will" destroy "the sinful kingdom."  Yet some will survive, to be scattered among the nations.  One day, which is getting closer and closer, God will rebuild the nation of Israel under a Descendant of David which is Jesus Christ, and in that day there will be blessing and peace.

Please uplift Youcef Nardankari and American Pastor Saeed Abedini in your Prayers as they have been falsely accused by the Iranian Government and have been sentenced to an Iranian prison.  Pray that God will uplift and provide them with His Strength, His Peace and His Comfort as well as to their families.  Also Pray for all those who are being persecuted for their Faith and Trust in Jesus Christ and their Lord and Savior.

Jesus Reigns, and He Is, Has Been, and ALWAYS Will Be In Complete and Total Control!!!

Your Sister in Christ,
Cindi
