Bible Scripture Reading for Friday 14 October 2011

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 14 October 2011"

Today's Blog Title: "Be Faithful"
Today's Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 3:1-19
Today's Key Verse: Hebrews 3:5,6 "And Moses was indeed faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, but Christ as a Son was His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end."

As Son of God, Jesus is greater than those supernatural beings known as angels.  As a true human being, the writer now tell us Jesus is greater than Moses (verses 1-6).  This is a vital point, for no human being was as revered in Judaism as Moses, the giver of the Law.

This point also induces the writer to add another warning.  Speaking of the time of Moses, the Scriptures remind God's people that the Exodus generation could not enter the Promised land because of disobedience (verses 7-11).  Their failure to experience that rest was due to the hardened, sinful hearts that would not respond to the Word that God spoke through Moses.

Their failure, and the judgment that followed, is a warming addressed to all who hear God's Word in their own hearts "today".  Those who will not believe God's Word, and demonstrate unbelief by disobedience will never experience "rest" today (verses 12-19). "Rest" then depends
on faith that is expressed as obedience.

Today's Hymn: "Love Lifted Me (verse 2)

All my heart to Him I'll give, ever to Him I'll Cling
In His blessed presence live, ever His praises sing.
Love so mighty and so true, merits my souls best songs;
Faithful, loving service, too, to Him belongs
Love Lifted Me! (even me) Love Lifted Me! (even me)
When nothing else could help, Love Lifted Me!

Heavenly father Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how we glorify and worship you for all that You have done for me.  How thankful we are that Your Love does lift us high.  We as your children will forever sing glorious praises unto You our Creator and our Lord.  May we in our humble obedience always fine our rest in Thee.
                                                                                                                                Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "Those who endure to the end, steadfastly placing their hope in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will live with Him throughout all eternity."

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness.
Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T", God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".

"A man's pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor." Proverbs 29:23
