Bible Scripture Reading

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 2 April 2012"

Today's Blog Title: "God Will Deliver Jerusalem"
Today's Scripture Reading: Isaiah 31:1-9
Today's Key Verse: Isaiah 31:5 "Like birds flying about, So will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it."

In Isaiah 31, Isaiah no returns his attention to again to those who would advocate a pro-Egyptian alliance for the protection of Judah.  he observes that they "stay (lean) on horses and trust in chariots" rather than God who is a "Spirit.."  The use of the symbols of a "lion" and "birds flying" reflects the national symbol of Assyria, the winged lion.  Isaiah calls on his listeners to turn or repent.  This is the very heart of His message to the wayward nation.

You may remember in verse 30 that Isaiah says that one day when the nation of Israel cries out to Almighty God, that God will be gracious to Israel and destroy His peoples enemies.  In today's chapter Isaiah leaves his  bright vision of Israel's distant future and return to the situation of his contemporaries.  He predicts disaster to those who turn from God's help for the help of the Egyptians. but as a token of His ultimate grace, God will shield Jerusalem even now.

This last promise of God was kept, for God ALWAYS keeps His promises.  In the days of Hezekiah, Assyria devastated Israel and invaded Judah, but Jerusalem was rescued by an act of divine intervention.  As God acted then, He will act in the future to keep His others promise.  The present may be dark, but the future is bright for the Jewish people,  Always remember that God is faithful to keep ALL His promises and He will CANCEL you out of His appointment book.  Today too we have the choice between replying on the flesh, or on the Spirit.  Let's choose wisely.

Today's Biblical Truth: "See in the present blessings you enjoy, God's guarantee of a glorious future.

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness. Love God More Today.  Pray for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ who are being persecuted for their Faith and Trust in Jesus. Continue to pray for Youcel Nardarkhani the Iranian pastor who has been sentenced to death for his refusal to denounce his Faith and Trust in Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior.  Pray for God's peace on the city of Jerusalem, and His Blessings on the Nation of Israel.  Always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T," GOD Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN."

"And my God will meet all your needs according to His glories riches in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

Jesus Reigns.  May God's Love, Peace, and Grace be with you all.

Your Sister in Christ,
Cindi
