Good Morning Everyone!!!!
Today is Day 8 of the Old Testament predictions of the birth of Jesus and the New Testament Fulfillment of those predictions.
Prophecy: The Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.
Old Testament Prediction: Micah 5:2- "But you Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting"
Meaning: The name Bethlehem means "House of Bread". Ephrathah is a village in the region of Judah. This prophecy is important in the New Testament visit of the wise men to see Jesus in the manger. The birth as predicated in this verse would be unlike any other birth because He was preexisted. He is from everlasting.
New Testament Fulfillment: Luke 2: 4,5,7-"Joseph went went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judah, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was from the house of David, to be registered with Mary his betrothed wife who was with child. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Meaning: Joseph had to be registered in the city of Bethlehem which was his ancestral home. Joseph and Mary lived in Nazareth and it was at least a 3 day trip. Mary was heavy with child as they made that journey to Bethlehem. Can you imagine riding on a donkey for three days being at full term. Because there was no room in the inn, Jesus was born in a manger that was probably used to feed animals. He was wrapped in swaddling cloths which were strips of cloth used to wrap around a baby to keeps its arms and legs straight. Jesus was the firstborn of Mary which means that she would have other children.
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will give sight to the blind man?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know
That you baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kissed your little baby
You've kissed the face of God
Heavenly Father, This is the most exciting time of the year for Christians. We thank You for your Son Jesus who came into the world in human form as a baby and whom the sins of man would fall upon. Always help us to to remember the reason for this season is the birth of Christ, our Savior.
Amen
"For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him"
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day
Yours In Christ
Cindi
