Weekend Bible Verse for Sunday 20 February 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Bible Verse: Hebrews 12:1-2

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Our life as Christians, is like a relay race.  Persons of faith who have ran before us, have passed the baton to us, and they now watch us carry on.  The weight mentioned in verse 1, is anything that would hinder us running the race as Christians.

As we run, we can look back and see how Jesus ran His race.  When we look ahead, we can see Him rasied on high.   We need to constantly fix our eyes on Jesus, instead of our own circumstances.  Christ has done everything necessary for us to endure in our faith.  He is our example and model, for Jesus was focused on the joy set before Him.  His attention was not on the pain of the cross, but on the crown; not on the suffering, but on the reward.  Look to Jesus our example as a starter and finisher.

Encamped along the hills of light, Ye soldiers, rise
And press the battle ere the night, shall veil the glowing skies
Against the foe in vales below, let all our strength be hurled
Faith is the victory, that overcomes the world
Faith is the victory!  Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory, that overcomes the world

Heavenly Father, Thank you for the example that set for us, when you were here upon this earth.  Help us Lord, to fix our eyes upon you, and give us the victory that overcomes the world.
                                                                                                                                            Amen

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace, Serve the Lord with Gladness and Love God More Today.

Yours In Christ,
Cindi
