Bible Scripture for Friday 29 April 2011

Today's Blog Title: "A Cry for Mercy"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 28:1-9
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 28:6,7  "Blessed be the Lord, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!  The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him."

David in this psalm calls on God, asking Him to show that He distinguishes between  the wicked and the godly.  Sure that God has heard his prayer, David is moved to praise.

There are some prayers that we can be sure God will answer, because they are so intimately bound up with who He is, or with His revealed purposes.  When we pray for something that we know is in God's will or purposes, our hearts too should leap for joy.

This psalm has four parts:

(1) An appeal to God that He is not silent (verses 1,2)
(2) A petition to be distinguished from the wicked and their deserved punishment (verses 3-5)
(3) A blessing of the Lord for His work in the psalmist life (verses 6,7)
(4) Praise for the Lord who delivers his anointed and His people (verses 8,9)

Today's Hymn: "Psalm 5"

Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my mediation,
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, My King and my God
For unto Thee will I pray, My voice shall Thou hear in the morning
O Lord, in the morning will I direct my prayer, Unto Thee, and will look up

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Thank You for being our Great Shepherd and for Your Love and Concern for Us.  Thank You for the honor and privilege that we have because of Jesus to come before You Boldly, and presenting our prayer request and laying at Your throne.  Help us to pray O Lord that we might know Your Will for our life's.
                                                                                                   Amen

Bible Scripture for Thursday 28 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "Freedom from Fear"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 27:1-14
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 27:1   "The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid."

This psalm is a psalm of trust and begins with David's affirmation of the reality of God in his life. This psalm presents a strong desire to live in the presence of God and points to the ongoing need for believers to continue to wait on the Lord.  David sets aside his fears, finding release in communion with God and in prayer.

Fear is rooted in a sense of our vulnerability and helplessness.  We as Christians need to remind ourselves that God is our strength and that He is a strongly fortified place.  The bond that God establishes with us in Christ is far stronger that the bond that holds parent and child together.

David in this psalm expresses confident trust in his prayer for deliverance.  He expresses his complete confidence and trust in his God.  On this basis he then feels free to present his petition for deliverance from his enemies.  Finally, he returns full circle to the trust previously stated as the only proper attitude of one who must now wait for God to act.

This psalm has 6 parts: (1) A determination not to fear enemies because of God's presence (verses 1-3); (2) A desire to live in the presence of the Lord (verses 4,5); (3) An affirmation of praise to God (verse 6); (4) A prayer for God's continuing presence (verses 7-10); (5) A prayer for continuing trust in the midst of a life of crisis (verses 11-13); (6) A word of instruction (verse 14).

Today's Hymn: "Purify My Heart"

Purify my heart, touch me with Your cleansing fire
Take me to the cross, Your holiness is my desire
Breathe Your life in me, kindle a love that flows from Your throne
Oh, purify my heart, purify my heart

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit   Thank you for your faithfulness to us in all the circumstances of our lives.  Purify our hearts O Lord, and give us a song within our hearts that we might daily sing praises toy You that glorify and honor Your Holy Name.
                                                                                                                              Amen

Bible Scripture for Wednesday 27 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "Prayer of a Righteous Man"
Today's Scripture Reading: "Psalm 26:1-12
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 26:2  "Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart."

This psalm indicates that David was being falsely accused.  In the light of this fact, his protestations of innocence are not pride, but the just complaint of a man of God.  In addition to his self-defense, he petitions God for deliverance and promises a public acknowledgement when it is accomplished.

Our confidence in prayer rests first on an awareness of who God is.  But it also depends on our conviction that we ourselves are living in fellowship with the Lord.  We are in fellowship with God if we have: (1) Placed our trust in him (2) Remain aware of His love (3) Habitually walk in His truth (4) Maintain our innocence (5) Refrain from intimate associations with the wicked (6) Make open professions of our faith and love for God (7) Identify ourselves with God's people.

The main 5 parts of this psalm are: (1) A prayer for vindication (verses 1,2) (2) An assertion on integrity (verses 3-5) (3) A vow of praise (verses 6-8) (4) A prayer for discrimination (verses 9,10) (5) An assertion of integrity (verses 11,12).

Today's Hymn:  Christ Liveth In Me" (verse 2)

As rays of light from yonder sun, The flowers of earth set free,
So life and light and love come forth, From Christ living in me
Christ Liveth in Me, Christ Liveth in me
Oh! what a salvation this, That Christ liveth in me

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  We ask that you guide us through the maze of this life we live.  When we have storms in our life's, light our paths with the light of Jesus whom lives within us and remind us that your loving hand is drawing us closer to you.
                                                                                                                   Amen

Bible Scripture for Tuesday 26 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "A Prayer for Guidance"
Today's Scripture Reading Psalm 25:1-22
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 25:4,5  "Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths.  Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day."

In this psalm David turns to God for guidance and forgiveness and finds assurance in God's grace to those who fear Him.  David concludes with an earnest plea for help.

When you pray, fix your eyes on the fact that God is: "Good", "Upright", "Willing to instruct sinners", "Loving", "Faithful" "Forgiving".  What confidence we can have in prayer, not because we pray well, but because of the nature of the God to whom we pray.

This psalm has six parts:

(1) An introduction appeal that David will not be ashamed before his enemies (verses 1-3)
(2) A call for God to forgive David (verses 4-7)
(3) A focus on the character of God (verses 8-10)
(4) A renewed call for God to forgive David (verses 11-18)
(5) A concluding appeal that David will not be ashamed before his enemies (verses 19-21)
(6) A concluding prayer for Israel (verse 22)

The emphasizes of this psalm was David's need for deliverance from his enemies and for forgiveness from His and our Gracious God.

Today's Hymn: "I Stand In Awe"

You are beautiful beyond description, Too marvelous for words;
Too wonderful for comprehension, Like nothing ever seen or heard
Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom? Who can fathom the depth of Your love?
You are beautiful beyond description, Majesty enthroned above
And I stand, I stand in awe of You, I stand, I stand in awe of You;
Holy God, to Whom all praise is due, I stand in awe of You.
I stand in awe of You, I stand in awe of You

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  How indeed we stand in awe of our Almighty, all Loving and all Caring God.  Words cannot describe, the deep love we have for you.  We give you complete control Abba Father of our lives, so that wherever you may lead, we will follow.
                                                                                                                                   Amen

Today's Biblical Reference: "Those who fear the Lord pay attention to His instructions and thus learn the secrets of God's wisdom"

Bible Scripture and Hymn for Monday 25 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "The Triumph of the King"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 24:1-10
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 24:1,2  "The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.  For He has founded it upon  the seas, and established it upon the waters."

Psalm 24 is a royal psalm.  This psalm describes the Lord's entrance into the holy city.  This song as did psalm 22 and 23 speak prophetically of the Lord Jesus.  This psalm also asks and answers the question of who is fit to come into the presence of the Lord.  The answer in this psalm focuses on the King of glory.

This psalm also focuses on the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to establish His Kingdom of earth.

This psalm has three main parts:

(1) Praise to God the Creator and Sovereign of the world (verses 1,2)
(2) An inquiry concerning the appropriate approach to the Lord (verses 3-6)
(3) An anticipation of the King of Glory (verses 7-10)

David ponders the preparation of those who will accompany the "King of glory" up God's holy hill, and is caught up in a vision of the triumph of a king who is God Himself.

Today's Hymn:  "At the Cross" (verse 1)

Alas! and did my Savior bleed, and did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head, for sinners such as I
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day!

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  How great it is to know that we have a lasting and loving friend in Jesus Christ.  How thankful we are that indeed at the cross we first saw the light and Jesus rolled away the burdens of my heart and created in me a new creature, one who is made in the image of Christ.
                                                                                                       Amen

Bible Scripture for Sunday 24 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Events of Holy Week leading up to the Arrest, Trial, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Sunday Day 8

Event: Jesus Is Raised From the Dead
Biblical Reference: Luke 24:1-9

Happy Resurrection Day!!!  Today we Celebrate the Glories Commemoration of the Greatest Event in All of History.  Even the magnificent  event of Creation pales in comparison.  Indeed it would be better never to be, then come to our end on earth without a RISEN, GLORIFIED REDEEMER.

Event: Jesus Is Raised From the Dead
Biblical Reference: Luke 24:1-9

The Resurrection of Christ included five accomplishments:

(1) The physical renewing of His Life
(2) The reunion of His body and His spirit
(3) The subjugation of death under Him
(4) The attainment of His new position
(5) His receiving of a transfigured body.

Because of HIS RESURRECTION, the Christian receives both ETERNAL LIFE (John 11:25) and SPIRITUAL POWER (Ephesians 1:19,20).  Christ's RESURRECTION  also provides for the FUTURE RESURRECTION  of the BELIEVER (1 Corinthians 15:20) and is the KEY to VICTORY in the CHRISTIAN LIFE because of OUR UNION with CHRIST (Ephesians 2:6).

Today's Hymn: "Christ Arose"

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus My Savior,
Waiting the Coming day, Jesus my Lord
(Chorus)
Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o'er His foes
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He Arose! He Arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior,
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord
(Chorus)

Death cannot keep it's pray, Jesus my Savior,
He torn the bars away, Jesus my Lord
(Chorus)

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit  Today we are thankful for the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Today marks Jesus' victory over Death and Sin and the DEFEAT of Satan was fulfilled.  Thank You Lord Jesus for the supreme Sacrifice that You made for us because of Your Great Love for Us.
                                                                                                                   Amen

Bible Scripture for Saturday 23 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "The Shepherd Psalm"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 23:1-6
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 23:1  "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."

This psalm is one of the best known and most memorized in the Bible.  It is a psalm of trust.  Within the six verses there is a development of the single theme of the first verse: David has no concern of fear, for the Lord is his Shepherd.

Using the images of a sheep in the care of a shepherd and of a guest in the home of a generous host, David celebrates the security afforded by God's protection.

This Psalm also prophetically speaks of Jesus. He is the Good Shepherd whose flock trusts in Him and the King whose perfect rule will be established.

This psalm has two sections:

(1) A description of the Lord as Shepherd caring for our every need (verses 1-4)
(2) A description of the Lord as Shepherd extending His mercy to all (verses 5-6)

Today's Hymn: "Rock Of My Salvation"

You are the rock of my salvation, You are the strength of my life
You are my hope and my inspiration, Lord, unto you will I cry
I believe in You, believe in You, For your faithful love to me.
You have been my help in time of need; Lord, unto You will I cleave.
You are the Rock of my salvation, You are the strength in my life.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit,   You are indeed the Rock of my salvation and the strength of my life.  You are faithful in Your love for me and You are my help in my times of need.  Your quiet voice and gentle touch refresh me and keeps me close to Thee.
                                                                                                                            Amen

Bible Scripture for Friday 22 April 2011

Greeting Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: The Suffering, Praise, and Posterity of the Messiah
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 22:1-31
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 22:1  "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?  Why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my groaning."

This Psalm is a profound lament psalm that concludes as a triumphant song of Praise for God's Deliverance.  Even though this song speaks of David's own distress and the Lord's deliverance of him, it is also prophetically describes in remarkable detail Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection

The language David used here in this psalm to describe his own predicament is prompted by the Holy Spirit.  It expands a thousand years to describes precisely the experiences of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ both in His excruciating death and His victorious resurrection.

David felt forsaken by God, but Christ was literally abandoned by Him.  In history's most awesome moment God the Father withdrew His presence from the Son; The Holy One isolated Himself from one who at that instant in time became sin for us.  The victim who is the true subject of this psalm died, and was raised to life again.

This psalm has two sections:

(1) A description  of the agony of impending death, an interplay of lament, confession, and petition (verses 1-21)
(2) An ecstatic celebration of great victory, a series of vows to praise God in the congregation (verses 22-31).

Today's Hymn: "Christ Liveth In Me"

Once far from God and death in sin, No light my heart could see;
But in God's word the light I found, now Christ liveth in me
Christ liveth in me, Christ liveth in me
Oh!  What Salvation is this, that Christ liveth in me.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit,  Thank You for giving us life and protecting us from harm.  You are worthy of all our praise!  Keep us always close to you and may the light of Jesus within us shine through, so that others will see His Love and mercy in us and they will want what we have in You.
                                                                                                                            Amen

Bible Scripture reading for Thursday 21 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "The Assurance of God's Saving Work"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 21:1-13
Today's Scripture Verse: Psalm 21:13  "Be exalted, O Lord, in Your own strength!  We will sing and praise Your power."

This psalm is another of the royal songs of David.  Psalm 20 was a prayer of the king for God's blessing on his army, while this psalm is an assurance of God's blessings on the king.  As in the case of all the royal psalms, they speak ultimately of the great King to come, the Lord Jesus.

With victory won, the king rejoices in God's strength.  In the assurance of future victory's the king vows to continue to offer God praise.

This psalm has four main parts:

(1) A declaration of praise to God by the king (verses 1,2)
(2) A review of God's Blessings on the king (verses 3-7)
(3) An expectation of the final destruction of all the enemies of the king (verses 8-12)
(4) A renewed commitment by the people to praise God (verse 13)

Today's Hymn: "Christ Liveth In Me"

Once far from God and dead in sin, No light my heart could see;
But in God's word the light I found, Now Christ liveth in me
(Refrain)
Christ liveth in me, Christ liveth in me
Oh! what a salvation this is, That Christ liveth in me

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit,  We come before You because within our hearts and souls we have indeed found the light which is Christ living in us.  As we grow may we entrench ourselves into Your word that we might get the Spiritual nourishment that we need to grow strong in You, as we become more like Jesus.
                                                                                                              Amen

Bible Scripture and Hymn for Wednesday 20 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "Intercession for the King"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 20:1-9
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 20:5  "We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners!  May the Lord fulfill all your petitions."

Psalm 20 is a royal Psalm and is a psalm of trust ascribed to David.  The tone of the psalm is one of blessing, such as a king might bestow on his people, perhaps on the eve of battle.  Even the godly King david sensed his need for the prayer support of his people.  Every wise Christians even today yearns for similiar reinforcement from his congregation.

Trust is reliance on God.  Belief can be intellectual.  Trust is far more personal and challenging concept.  Trust in God is resting the full weight of our confidence in Him, counting on Him alone to deliver us.

God can be trusted: (1) To hear us in time of trouble (2) to protect us (3) to  send help (4) to support and strengthen us (5) to give us our heart's desire (6) to make our plans succeed (7) to answer us with saving power.  When God can surely do this for us, we would be foolish not to trust Him.

This poem has three key points:

(1) God's blessing in battle (verses 1-5)
(2The assurance of God's deliverance (verse 6)
(3) An assertion of faith in God the King (verse 7-9)

Today's Hymn: "I Love Your Grace"

I love Your grace, I love Your mercy, I love the way you help me when I call
I love the truth, I love the power of Your name; But You know I love Your presence most of all
My soul takes refuge in the shadow of your wings; Close to You is where I want to be
You are my strength, You are my God, You are my King;
All I want is what you want for me

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit,  You are so worthly of our praise.  Your steadfast love for us never ceases.  Great is your faithfulness O God.  Your power is perfected in weakness, and by Your blood, You are the strength of our life's.

Today's Biblical Truth: "God raises the humble and puts down the arrogant.  God has been and will always be in control human affairs"

Bible Scripture and Hymn for Tuesday 19 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "Awe at God's Revelation"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 19:1-14
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 19:14  "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and Redeemer."

"Wow"  The words "My Strength and Redeemer" says it all about our Almighty God.  This psalm is a wisdom psalm and celebrates the Word of God in the context of creation.  The poem begins with the heavens, centers on the Word, and ends in the hearts of the servants of God.

God has revealed Himself in His creation, but has enriched us most through His revelation in the Scriptures.  Only by studying and keeping God's Law can we be kept from sin.   Revelation is primarily the giving and receiving of information from God.  This Chapter celebrates two forms of revelation: (1) Natural: in which information about God is made known through His creation and (2) Special: in which information from God is made known directly to us.

In Romans 1:18-20 it teaches God's existence and His power are known through creation.  This psalm has three main points:

(1) A celebration of the greatness of God's creation (verses 1-6)
(2) A celebration of the purity of the word of God (verses 7-11)
(3) A contempaltion of the life of the person of god (verses 12-14)

In Verse 14 "My Strength" means that God is the solid rock for us to stand on.  "My Redeemer" describes God as the One who puchases our our freedom from any bondage or slavery.  He is the "defender of family rights".

Today's Hymn: "Great Are Your Works"

Your works, Lord, are awesome.  Your power is great
Your works, Lord, are awesome.  Your power is great
Great are Your works Lord, Great are your deeds.
Awesome in power, so awesome to me.
You will reign forever.  In power You will reign
You will reign forever.  In power You will reign
Great are Your works, Lord Great are Your deeds
Awesome in power, so awesome to me
Because of Your greatness, All the earth will sing
Because of Your greatness, All the earth will sing
Great are Your works Lord, Great are Your deeds
Awesome in power, so awesome to me

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit,  The heavens and the earth do declare the glory of Your name.  You are our Strength and Redeemer.  Let the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts always be acceptable to Thee and may our lifes so shine for you so that those around us and who are watching us a sChristians will see the light from within us that will want what You have given to us so freely.
                                                                                                     Amen

Bible Scripture for Monday 18 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "God the Sovereign Savior"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalms: 18:1-50
Today's Key Verse: Psalms 18: 35,36 "You have also given me the shield of your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great.  You enlarged my path under me, so my feet did not slip."

In this Psalm David describes God's qualities and launches into a vivid, image-rich report of divine deliverance.  David returns to God and praises Him for the many benefits he has received.  Because of all the Lord has done in showing Himself David's Saviour, the psalmist will prasied God Forever.

David's images of God are personal, relational, and reflect his role as a warrior.  Thus to David God represents his fortress (security), his shield (protection) and the "horn of my salvation" (power to deliever from enemies).  David simply recognizes the fact that God is committed to those who keep themselves from sin and do not turn away from God.

This is the nature of praise: to give God credit for who He is and what He had done.

This psalm has six parts:

(1) A statement of faith and a description of deliverance (verses 1-6)
(2) A poetic description of God's battle for David's deliverance (verses 7-19)
(3) A recital of the blessings of God on the righteous (verses 20-27)
(4) An offering of praise to the person of the Lord (verses 28-36)
(5) A recounting of battles and victories in the Lord (verses 37-45)
(6) Concluding praise for God's work of deliverance (verses 46-50)

Today's Hymn: "Your Everlasting Love"

Your everlasting love is higher, higher, higher than the sky
Your everlasting love is higher, higher, Higher than the sky, higher than the sky
Oh, the wonder of Your everlasting love, Is higher than the sky
Higher than the heavens above, is the glory of Your wonderful love
I'm lost in the mystery of Your everlasting love, Your everlasting love

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit,  How thankful we are that you are our security, our protection, and You give us the power to escape our enemies.  How we are thankful that your love is higher than the sky and how you bathe us in your heaveny love and glory.
                                                                                                                                 Amen

Bible Scripture for Friday 15 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "A Plea for a Righteous Man"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 17:1-15
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 17:8  "Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings."

This psalm is a lament song and it is a protest of innocence.  This song is written by David.  At times David suffers under the heavy hand of God's anger because of unconfessed sin in his life.  But he also insist there are times that the troubles in his life are nor caused by him.  In these cases he called upon the name of the Lord to vindicate him.

God indicates through this psalm that He has a special concern for people who experience undeserved suffering, even though He allows the trouble to come for reasons that may never be known in this life.

This psalm has six parts to it:

(1)  A plea for vindication (verses 1,2)
(2)  An acknowledge of God's testing  (verses 3-5)
(3) A plea for God's mercy (verses 6-9)
(4) A description of the wicked (verses 10-12)
(5) A renewed plea for vindication (verses 13-14)
(6) A statement of resolute faith (verse 15)

We as Christians need to have a firm commitment to God, and remain deeply aware of the dangers faced by Believers living in a sinful world.  What confidence it is to know that God will confront the wicked, and the righteous shall find satisfaction in God's presence.

Today's Hymn: "Christ Liveth In Me"

Once far from God and dead in sin, No light my heart could see
But in God's Word the light I found, Now Christ liveth in me
Christ liveth in me, Christ liveth in me
Oh! what salvation this, That Christ liveth in me

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit,  Keep us as Believers to be the apple of your eye.  Show us your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand.  May be call upon You Lord knowing That You incline thine ear to hear us.  Help us to sing joyful songs to You O Lord and to rejoice in Your Salvation.

Bible Scripture Reading for Thursday 14 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "The Joy of Fellowship With God"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 16:1-11
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 16:11  "You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; At your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

This song is a song of lament and has prophetic aspects that parallels many of the prophecies concerning the Suffering Servant.  This poem of David became the focus point in the preaching of the apostles in the early church (Acts 2:22-31).

Our complete personal commitment to the Lord results in the assurance that God is in control and guides our steps.  This assurance brings the Believer  a wonderful sense of security and joy.  The sorrows of those who reply on anything but the Lord "increase" because every other basis of hope is certain to disappoint.  Only the Lord is eternal, a sure anchor for our hopes.

There should never be a time when we look away from the Lord because our faith and hope in the Almighty God will remain unshakable.

Today's Hymn:  "The Sweetest Name Of All"

Jesus, You're the sweetest name of all,
Jesus, You always hear me when I call
Oh, Jesus You pick me up each time I fall
You're the sweetest, the sweetest name of all

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit,  How thankful we are, to know that you indeed hear our call, and that you are there when we fall, to brush us off and keep us focused on You and the Cross of Calvary.  May we as Believers, always remember that our faith and hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness.
                                                                                                     Amen

Bible Scripture and Hymn for Wednesday 13 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of the Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "A Psalm of Fellowship"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 15:1-5
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 15:2  "He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart"

This is a wisdom psalm with its approach to the worship of God.  In this psalm it asks the question, "who is righteous enough to approach God?"  Certainly no one is except Jesus the Messiah .  But there have always been those who stand before God as forgiven sinners, whose righteousness comes as a gift from God.

We who are in Christ  learn to come boldly into the presence of the Father because we come on the authority of His Son.  Jesus make us feel at home in the presence of His Father and ours.

This psalm has 3 parts:

(1) The question of who may approach the Holy God (verse 1)
(2) The response (verses 2-4)
(3) The blessing (verse 5)

The blameless lifestyle of the Believer is characterized as:

(1) Sincere and Honest
(2) Avoids Malicious
(3) Does Nothing to Harm or Discredit Another
(4) Avoids Vile People
(5) Honors and Keeps Company with Those Who Fear God
(6) Keeps Promises Whatever the Cost
(7) Lends to the Needy and Charges no Interest
(8) Can't be Influenced Against the Innocent, but Champions Their Cause

Today's Hymn: "Stand By Me" (verse 3)

In the midst of faults and failures, Stand by me (stand by me)
In the midst of faults and failures, Stand by me, (stand by me)
When I do the best I can, and my friends misunderstand
Thou who knowest all about me, Stand by me (stand by me)

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit What a privilege it is to come before you to talk with you and praise your most Holiness Name.   May we in our everyday walk with Thee Lord walk uprightly and keep righteous before You.  We thank you Lord for being our sure foundation.
                                                                                                                              Amen

Bible Scripture for Tuesday 12 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "The Corrupt Fool"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 14:1-7
Today's Key Verse: 14:1  "The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God."  They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good."

Psalm 14 is a wisdom song.  It speaks of the fool of living as if God did not exist.  Because the human race is corrupt and foolish, the godly take refuge in the Lord, and long for His kingdom on earth.

Today's psalm has three main points:

(1) A description of the pervasiveness of evil (verses 1-3)
(2) An assertion that final judgment is coming (verses 4-6)
(3) A prayer for God's kingdom (verse7)

The word fool in verse one refers not to mental inability but to moral and spiritual insensitivity.  The fool denies God's existence, and gives himself over to gross and hideous sins.  By nature all human beings are fools, who have "together become corrupt".

Almighty God will ultimately set up a righteous kingdom and there will be a "company of the righteous" in it.  Who is this company?  It will be those who have turned from there native foolishness and seek God and call upon Him.

Today's Hymn: "Call Upon the Lord"

Call upon the Lord, There's power in His name
He is Almighty God, Jehovah Most High
His truth and His holiness reign, Call upon the Lord
There's freedom in His name, He is Almighty God, the Eternal "I AM"
Now and forever the same, Shout to the heavens is name
Jehovah Shammah, The Lord who is present.
Jehovah Ropheh, The God who heals.
Jehovah Raah, The Lord is my Shepherd.
Jehovah Jireh, The Lord will provide.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit, Thank you for always being present, for being the Great Physician, For being our Shepherd and always providing for those who believe in you.  You are indeed the Almighty God and the Eternal "I AM".
                                                                                                               Amen

Bible Scripture for Monay 11 April 2011

"Greeting Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "Trusting in the Salvation of the Lord"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 13:1-6
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 13:5,6 "But I have trusted in your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in your salvation.  I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me."

Chapter 13 is again a lament psalm. Under pressure, David feels forgotten by God and cries out for the Lord to act.  No immediate answer comes, yet David finds peace remembering God's loyal love.

This psalm is brief, but it is remarkably powerful in its tone and imagery.  This psalm has 3 parts:

(1) A lament of the forsaken (verses 1,2)
(2) A petition for deliverance (verses 3,4)
(3) A confession and a vow of praise (verses 5,6)

We as Christians need to remember that we need to trust and place our faith in the sovereign Mercy and Grace of our Almighty God and His royal love for us.

Today's Hymn: "Twas a Glad Day When Jesus Found Me"

"I was lost in sin when Jesus found me, But He rescued me, all glory to His name!
And the cords of worldly pleasure bound me, Till He saved me from sin and shame
'Twas a glad day when Jesus found me, When His strong arms were thrown around me;
When my sins He buried in the deepest sea, and my soul He filled with joy and victory
"Twas a glad day, O hallelujah!  "Twas a glad day He claimed His own
I will shout a glad hosanna in glory, When I see Him upon His throne.

Heavenly Father, Thank you for finding us and rescuing us from my sins and making us all Yours.  Open our eyes and our hearts Lord that we will see you and feel Your loving presence close to us  Give us Your peace Lord knowing that You are a God of Love and mercy.

Scripture Reading for Sunday 10 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "Confidence in God's Promise"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 12:1-8
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 12:6,7  "The words of the Lord are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.  You shall keep them, O Lord,  You shall preserve them from this generation forever."

In this psalm David is crying out in despair, but we will see that his confidence is restored by the Lord.  This psalm is a lament psalm.  It starts out with the focus on the power of the of the wicked's perverse mouth and it concludes powerfully with an assertion of the power of the pure and truthful words of God.

This psalm has 5 parts:

(1) A description of the language of the wicked (verses 1,2)
(2) A prayer for God's intervention (verses 3,4)
(3) The intervention of God to deliver His own ( verse 5)
(4) A characterization of the language of God (verses 6,7)
(5) A reminder of the continuing presence of the wicked (verse 8)

Today's Hymn:"Child of the King"

My Father is rich in houses and lands
He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!
Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold
His coffers are full, He has riches untold
I'm a child of the King, A child of the King
With Jesus my Savior, I'm  child of the King

Heavenly Father, We are so thankful, that we as Believers can pour our souls out to You.  As we cry out to You, we remember Your loving care for us in the past, and we have faith that you will be there for us TODAY and TOMORROW.  With this Your promise to us, we can renew our faith and trust in You, our Almighty Living, Loving, and Caring Heavenly Father.

Bible Scripture for Saturday 9 April 2011

"Greeting Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus  Christ'

Today's Blog Title: "Faith in the Lord's Righteousness"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 11:1-7
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 11:7  "For the Lord is Righteous, He loves righteousness;  His countenance beholds the upright."

When advised to flee from danger, David affirms God's righteousness and His sure judgment  on the wicked.  The phrase "In His Holy Temple", is not associated with worship.  It is from His "Holy Temple" that God dispenses judgment.  Since our God exists forever and He judges, our foundation cannot be shaken much less destroyed.

This psalm is a psalm of trust.  It expresses a great trust in Almighty God.  It is the context of adversity  that makes this psalm of trust even more impressive .  This poem has three parts:

(1) An affirmation of trust in the Lord even during the assaults of the wicked (verses 1-3)
(2) An affirmation of trust in the Lord who reigns above and who will judge the actions of the
      (verses 4-6)
(3) An affirmation of trust in the Lord because of who He is (verse 7)

Today's Hymn: "Stand By Me"

In the midst of tribulation, Stand by me (stand by me)
In the midst of tribulation, Stand by me (stand by me)
When the hosts of hell assail, And my strength begins to fail,
Thou who never lost a battle, Stand by me (stand by me)

Heavenly Father, How thankful we are that You are the Lord of righteous.  May we always place our faith and trust in You, depending on You for Your Strength, Your Mercy and Your Grace.
                                                                                                                                         Amen

Bible Scripture and Hymn for Friday 8 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "A Song of Confidence in God's Triumph over Evil"
Today's Scripture Reading: Palm 10:1-18
Today's Key Verse:  He has said in his heart, God has forgotten; He hides His face; He will never see."

This Psalm readdresses the desires expressed in Psalm 9, that the Lord would deal with the wicked enemies of the psalmist.  It reflects a sense of urgency: The psalmist pleads for immediate deliverance from his enemies.  Despite the temporary triumph of the wicked, the Lord defends the oppressed.

This psalm has 5 key points:

(1) An inquiry into the actions of the Lord (verses 1,2)
(2) A description of the actions of the wicked (verses 3-11)
(3) A renewed call for the Lord to rise in judgment 9 (verses 12,13)
(4) A confession of trust in the Lord's final judgment (verses 14,15)
(5) A presention

Today's Hymn: "Stand By Me"

When the storms of life are raging, Stand by me (stand by me)
When the storms of life are raging, Stand by me (stand by me)
When the world is tossing me, Like a ship upon the sea
Thou Who rulest wind and water.
Stand by me (stand by me)

Heavenly Father, What a WONDERFUL,  CARING, LOVING,  ALL POWERFUL and ALMIGHTY GOD we serve.  A God in the midst of our trails and storms of life, when we are ready to abandon ship, gives us the strength that we need to continue and calms the winds and raging waves that the world throws at us.  May we always glorify and honor Your Name,do  for everything that You do so Graciously do for us in our life's.

Bible Scripture for Thursday 7 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "Praise to God for Vindication"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 9:1-20
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 9: 9,10  "The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, A refuge in times of trouble.  And those who know Your name will put there trust in You; For You, Lord have not forsaken those who seek You."

In this Psalm, God has displayed His righteousness and sovereignty by judging Israel's foreign enemies.  Sure that God is known by His justice, David prays confidently for continuing relief from his enemies.

Past, present, and future, the psalmist weaved together these three elements.    David experienced God's vindication in the past.  The Lord "rebuked," "destroyed," and "blotted out" His enemies.   This has given David a present assurance that "the Lord reigns" (verse 7), "will judge"(verse8),  and is "a refuge for the oppressed"(verse 9).  So assured, David cries out for his future relief from those who now persecute him (verse 13).

Today's Hymn: "Keep Me Wholly Thine"

Now to the fountain of life I am going
Jesus, I pray Thee, make me Thine
Wholly Thine, Wholly Thine, Seal and keep me Thine

Wholly Thine, Wholly Thine, Keep me Wholly Thine
All I surrender to Thee, O my Savior
All to Thy sovereign will divine.
Wholly Thine, Wholly Thine, Seal and keep me Thine
Wholly Thine, Wholly Thine, Keep me Wholly Thine

Heavenly Father, You are the the Living Water, You are the Bread of Life.  It is our prayer Lord that as we live upon this our temporary home, that You will guide and direct us in doing Your will as we serve You.  May our lives so shine for you that others will see Jesus in us.

Bible Scripture for Wednesday 6 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "The Glory of the Lord in Creation"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 8:1-9
Today's Key Verse: Genesis 8:3-5  "When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars , which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor."

Psalm 8 is a psalm of praise with wisdom connections.  In this psalm, it expresses wonder at the majestic and sublime nature of God. The center of this psalm focuses on human beings which is a rarity in Scripture.   But even this focus leads to the praise of God, the Creator of humanity.

This psalm is broken down into 4 points:

(1) A start of praise of God's excellent name (verse 1)
(2) The praise of God from children (verse 2)
(3) The praise of the Creator of humanity (verses 3-8)
(4) An ending in praise to God's excellent name (verse 9)

In view of God's majesty and the vastness of creation, His concern for human beings and gift of dominion over earth's creatures should utterly amaze us.

Today's Hymn: "Jesus Paid It All"

I hear the Savior say, "Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all."
Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow
For nothing good have I, Whereby Thy grace to claim
I'll wash my garments white, In the blood of Calv'ry's Lamb
Jesus paid it all, All to him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow

Heavenly Father, How we are amazed by your Creation and by your love toward us.  Thank you for when we are discouraged and feeling worthless you remind us in your word that we and all other human beings are valuable because You the Almighty God have created us in your own image.
                                                                                                                        Amen

Bible Scripture and Hymn for Tuesday 5 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "Prayer and Praise for deliverance from Enemies"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 7:1-17
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 7:  "I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High."

This Psalm is a lament psalm, and presents us David's protests of innocence.  We will see as we go through the Book of Psalm that in some cases the psalmist indicates that there suffering is deserved, and lead to confession.  But in other psalms they do not believe they deserve the suffering or the felling of being abandoned by God.

The powerful message all through this Book of Psalm is two fold: (1) God is good, and (2) life is difficult.  Our faith is lived between these two realities.  In this Psalm David, innocent of the slanders charged by his enemies, calls on God to vindicate him by punishing the wicked.  God is pictured here saving the upright in heart and He "expresses His wrath" against evildoers (Verses 10-11).  The Apostle Paul puts it even more strongly; When Jesus returns the wicked will be "punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of His power."

This psalm has 7 themes:

(1) An initial appeal for deliverance (verses 1-2)
(2) A protest of innocence (verses 3-5)
(3) An appeal for God's judgment, part 1 (verses 6-8)
(4) An appeal for God's judgment, part 2 (verses 9-10)
(5) A picture of God's judging work (verses 11-13)
(6) A portrait of the wicked (verses 14-16)
(7) A vow of praise (verse 17)

Thank God that in righteousness He saves as well as punishes.  The Almighty God is our shield and our defense.  God hovers over the believer like a shield, an invisible defense.  The wicked give birth to there own destruction.  The God of Israel is not just another national deity:
God Rules ALL NATIONS.

Today's Hymn: "Wrap Me In Your Arms"

There is a God who loves me, Who wraps me in His arms
And that is the place where I'm changed, and that's where I belong
Take me to that place Lord, To that secret place
Where I can be with You, You can make me like You
Wrap me in Your arms, Wrap me in Your arms
Wrap me in Your arms

Heavenly Father, Thank You for wrapping us in Your loving and protective arms.  Thank You for protecting us with Your shield against the fiery arrows of the enemy who seeks to destroy us.  May we have the confidence to call upon You for help in every situation in our daily life's, knowing that You are faithful to Your promises to be there with us always even to the end of the world.
                                                                                                                Amen

Bible Scripture for Monday 4 April 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord Jesus and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "A Prayer of Faith in Time of Distress"
Today's Scripture Reading: "Psalm 6:1-10
Today's Key Verse: "The Lord heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer."

Psalm 6 is a lament that shares elements of a repentance psalms.  David was experiencing what he feared to be a mortal illness.  He sensed that this illness may have fallen on him because of his own sinfulness.  This psalm is similar to those of psalm 4 and 5.

This psalm has four meanings:

(1) A petition for the Lord's mercy at a time of great pain (verses 1-3)
(2) An affirmation that praise of the Lord comes from the living (verses 4-5)
(3) A description of the psalmist's suffering (verses 6-7)
(4) A rebuke of the psalmist's enemies, for the Lord has heard his prayer (verses 8-10)

Our appeals are made to God's compassion in the confidence that the Lord does care.  God blesses the righteous.  There can be no doubt that God,  when we accept His Son Jesus Christ into our lives, will be faithful and just to forgive us of all our unrighteousness.  Praise the Power, Mercy and Love of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Today's Hymn: "A Living Prayer"

In this world I walk alone, with no place to call my home
But there's one who holds my hand, through rugged roads, through barren lands
The way is dark, the road is steep, but He's become my eyes to see
The strength to climb, my griefs to bear
The Savior lives inside me there
In Your love I find relief, a haven from my unbelief
Take my life and let me be, A living prayer, my God, to Thee

Heavenly Father, We thank you for your mercy and grace that You bestow upon those that have taken Your Son into there life's.  May we as Christians be joyful and full of your peace that passes all understanding as we go out to stand up and tell others about Jesus by our words and our actions.
                                                                                                                       Amen

Scripture Reading for Sunday 3 March 2011

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "A Prayer for Guidance"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 5:1-12
Today's Key Verse: "But let all those rejoice put their trust in you; Let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them; Let those also who love Your name be joyful in you.  For you O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him  as with a shield."

In this psalm David prays early and earnestly, confident that God will answer.  Since God rejects the arrogant, David, who is reverent and humble, is sure of God's leading.  David calls on God to declare the wicked guilty.  David's  appeal is rooted in his conviction that God is righteous.  God will act in character to preserve him.

David identifies his own cause with that of the Lord, so that attacks on him became attacks on God Himself.  The "righteous" in verse 12 points to the Savior Jesus, as will be common throughout this wonderful Book of the Psalm.

This psalm has 3 main points:

(1) A prayer to the Lord for deliverance in a time of trouble (verse 1-6)
(2) A desire to worship the Lord in a time of trouble (verses 7-9)
(3) A longing for final judgment by the Lord in times of trouble (verses 10-12)

The love that we see in Calvary's ultimate sacrifice draws us, as God's mercy drew David, to worship and serve the Lord.

Today's Hymn: "Be Not Afraid, I Go Before You Always"

You shall not cross barren desert, But you shall not die of thirst
You shall wander far in safety, Though you do not know the way
You shall speak your words in foreign lands, And all will understand
You shall see the face of God,
 And live

Heavenly Father, How thankful we are to You for your continuing Mercy and Grace.  How we Thank You for what You do in our lives each and every day.  How thankful we are that You
walk with us, and when we stumble and fall, we have You there to catch us, brush us off, and help us to keep our eyes fixed on You, and the Cross of Calvary.
                                                                                                                    Amen

Today's Biblical Truth:  "We should spend the rest of our lives thanking God for His mercy, and grace, by living a the way He guides us to live"
