Bible and Verse and Hymn for Sunday 2 January

"Greetings Everyone in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's blog is from Genesis Chapter 6.

Today's Key Verse: Genesis 6:6: "The Lord God was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His Heart.  So the Lord said, "I will destroy man, whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them".  But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord."

Personal Application: Disobedience brings the wrath of God.  Obedience brings His Love and Grace.

Wickedness and violence are the two words used to characterize the sins that brought on The flood of Genesis.  When any society is marked by continued wickedness and violence, then that society is in danger of divine judgment.

In verse 8 we see that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  Noah is to be honored and admired for his continued faithfulness.  For 120 years he build a great wooden ark on a waterless plain.  Those that might have been his neighbors, must have ridiculed him without mercy, and all the time he was building the ark he told them to repeat, and they would not respond to his warnings.  Even through all of this, Noah's trust in God did not waiver, and his faith is displayed.

God commanded Noah to build an ark.  The ark was about 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.  In verse 17 that God says, "I myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth...." thus significant emphasis on the personal role of God in the ensuring storm.

We then see what must have been a wonder to see.  God gathers every animal, creeping thing, and birds of the air by two's, male and female to the ark, where God would protect them, as well as Noah and his family, from the flood to come.

In the last verse of Chapter 6 we read  "Thus Noah did; according to all that commanded God commanded him, so he did."

Today's blog question: What is the most difficult act that God has asked you to do?

Although Noah lived among evil people, he tried to to what pleased God by doing the will of God.  He walked step in step in faith and was a living example of what obeying God is all about.  We like Noah live in a world that is full of sin, violence, and evil.  Do you live in total faith to God or are you influenced by the things of this world?

I can hear the chariots rumble, I can see the marching throngs
The flurry of God's trumpet, spell the end of sin and wrong
Regal robes are now enfolding, Heaven's grandstand all in place
Heaven's choir now assembled, Start to sing Amazing Grace
Oh, the King is coming, the King is coming
I just heard the trumpet sounding, and now his face I see
Oh, the King is coming, the King is coming
Praise God, he's coming for me

Have a God Filled and a Spirit Led Day.  May God's Richest Blessings Be You All.

Yours in Christ
Cindi
