"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"
Weekend Blog Verse for Sunday 30 January 2011: 1 Peter 1:3-5: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
Our salvation as Christians, is grounded in God's mercy. God has given believers a new spiritual life, that enables us to live entirely different than what our physical birth allowed. Hope in verse 4, does not imply a wishfulness, but a confidence that does not end with this life, but will continue throughout eternity because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without the resurrection, we would have NO HOPE.
Closing Question and Comment: "How deep is your faith and commitment to Christ?" Two words describe our faith: confidence and certainty. These two qualities need a secure beginning and ending point. The beginning point of faith is believing in God's character (He is who He says). The end point is believing in God's promises (He will do what He says). We believe that God will fulfill His promises even though we don't see those promises right now, this is true faith.
The raging storm may round us best, a shelter in the time of storm
We'll never leave our safe retreat, a shelter in time of storm
Oh, Jesus is a rock in a weary land,
A weary land, a weary land
Oh, Jesus is a rock in a weary land, a shelter in time of storm
Heaven Father, May our faith, trust and belief in You, grow grower each day, as we strive to serve You to the best of our ability May the things that we say and do, always bring glory and honor to Your name.
Amen
Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day. Go in Peace, Serve the Lord and Love God More Today.
Yours In Christ
Cindi
