Bible Scripture Reading for Thursday 7 July 2011

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 7 July 2011"

Today's Blog Title: "Faith's Pilgrimage"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 84:1-12
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 84:11,12 "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly.  O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You!"

Psalm 84 was composed by the sons of Korah and expresses the rejoicing of a pilgrim approaching the Jerusalem temple.  It is one of the psalms of Zion.  These psalms celebrate God's presence in Jerusalem, the city where His temple was built.

This psalm contains three key notes: (1) the blessedness of those who dwell at the temple (2) the blessedness of those who come to the temple (3) the blessedness of all who trust in the Lord. The Valley of  Baca in verse 6 refers to the various difficulties thatand thus it points to the one of the many hardships endured by he pilgrim on his one might face on the pilgrimage to Jerusalem the Holy City.

There are 6 parts to this psalm. (1) the expression of the desire to be at home in Zion (verses 1,2); (2) the blessing of being at home in Zion (verses 3,4); (3) the blessing of those who make the pilgrimages to Zion (verses 5-7); (4) a prayer for God's attention in Zion (verses 8,9); (5) the joy of being at home in Zion (verses 10,11); (6) the blessing of trusting in God (verse 12).

Today it is not necessary to go to Jerusalem to draw near to God, for God is near those believers who trust in His Son.

Today's Hymn: "Be Still For The Presence"

Be still for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here
Come, bow before Him now, with reverence and fear
In Him no sin is found, we stand on holy ground
Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, teach us to walk in wisdom, courage and love.  Help us to bear much fruit for you as we tell others about you.  May the light of Christ shine within us as a beacon, so that we as Christians can reach out and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to a sinful world.
                                                                                                                 Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "Nothing in the day of a believer can compare to a day spent in the worship of God"

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord with Gladness.  Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T",  God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".
