Bible Scripture Reading for Friday 2 September 2011

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 2 September 2011"

Today's Blog Title: "Grief Untold"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 137:1-9
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 137:1 "By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept when we remembered Zion."

Psalm 137 is a song of Zion and communicates a sense of anguish so deep that it cannot be expressed even in the familiar musical lament. This troubling psalm is one of deeply felt emotions.

This psalm contains a cry in captivity, a vow of remembrance and a prayer for judgment.  This psalm has three parts: (1) weeping in Babylon at the memory of the destruction of the temple (verses 1-3); (2) longing for Jerusalem and the restoration of song in praise of God (verses 4-6), (3) desiring reprisals against Edom and Babylon for their destruction of Jerusalem (verses 7-9).

Today's Hymn: "A Living Prayer"

In this world I walk alone,
with no place to call my home
But there's one who holds my hand,
through rugged roads, through barren lands.
The way is dark, the road is steep
But He's become my eyes to see
The strength to climb, my grief to bear
The Savior lives inside me there
In Your love I find relief, a haven from unbelief
Takes my life and let me be, A living prayer, my God, to Thee.

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, as we a Christians live our lives upon this earth our temporary home, we realize Lord that we will have trials and tribulations in our lives because you in Your Word have told us that, but you have also told us that you will be there to help us through the storms of life and that we are to bring our burdens to to You.  May we in Your love find relief, which is a haven in our unbelief.
                                                                                                                                     Amen
