"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 25 September 2011"
"Today's Blog Title: "New Life is the Goal"
Today's Scripture Reading: Romans 6:1-23
Today's Key Verse: Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
We who are joined to (baptized into) Christ were so truly united with Him that His death was our death--a death that frees us from the power of sin in our lives (verse 6-7). His resurrection is our resurrection. Sharing that life, we now we are able to live to God (verses 8-10). We can experience this spiritual reality--by faith. We count ourselves to God as His instruments to be used for righteousness (verses 11-14).
Life is made up of daily choices. But there also basic, life changing choices each of us makes. Paul ask us to consider and make one of those life saving choices now. We can follow our sinful desires and live a life marked by the deadness that characterizes the unsaved, or we can choose to commit ourselves to God, and determine that we will reject sin and make His will our goal in out life verses 15-23).
Paul has said God, "credits" righteousness to the one who believes in Christ (Romans 4). He has shown that Christ to the one who believes (Romans 5). Now in Romans 6 he shows us what life in Christ like: a resurrection life that frees us to be righteous as well as to be credited with righteousness.
The role of faith in Romans 6 presents basic truth as the foundation for living the Christian life. It show us what we are to do, based on these truths. Faith counts on the reality of our death with Christ so that we reject sin and make that decision to do righteousness. Counting on our relationship with Christ enable us to experience that union in our daily lives.
Today's Hymn: "Breathe On Me Breath Of God"
Breathe on me, breath of God, Fill me with life anew
That I may what Thou dost love And do what Thou would do
Breathe on me, breath of God, until my heart is pure
Until with thee, I will one will, to do and to endure
Breathe on me, breath of God, blend all my soul with Thine
Until this earthly part of me, glows with Thy fire divine
Breathe on Me, breath of God, so shall I never die
But live with Thee, the perfect life, of Thine eternity.
Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how we thank you Lord Jesus that we are saved by You and that You have released from the grip of sin and enables us to live a righteous life now. Thank you for the Gospel's Good News that teaches us Christ saves us from the power of sin. May we as Christians make a daily to serve Jesus, determining that we will reject sin and make His Will our goal in our life.
Amen
Today Biblical Truth: "Sin results in death, but God gives the gift of eternal life."
Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day. Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness. Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T", God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".
"The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand." Psalm 121:5
