"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 27 September 2011"
Today's Blog Title: "Resurrection Life Is Ours"
Today's Scripture Reading: Romans 8:1-39
Today's Key Voice: Romans 8:16,17 "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joints heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."
How do we as Christians live a righteous life without a constant struggle to keep God's Law? Paul in today's Scripture introduces another universal principle: the law of life lived in the power of Spirit (verses1,2). Old Testament Law failed to produce righteousness. So in Christ, God condemned "sin in sinful man" and provided His Spirit, who enables believers to full meet the Law's requirements with "trying" (verses 3,4).
We as Christians need to focus on responding to God's Spirit rather than on trying to keep laws (verses 5-8). If we are controlled by the Spirit who brought life to Christ's crucified body (verses 9-12). Our obligation is not to the Law, but to respond to the Spirit's promptings (verses 13-16).
Paul now looks ahead. One day creation itself will be renewed, even as we are being renewed (verses 17-25). Meanwhile the Spirit helps in our weakness, praying with and for us (verses 26-27). Its our relationship with God that brings us the victory, for He had chosen us not to muddle on in the pit of sin (verses 31-34). We are God's loved ones. Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (verses 35-39).
A further indication of the believers sonship and daughtership is that the Holy Spirit bears witness with their spirits. When believers cry out to the Father in prayer (verse 15), the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. Hope in verse 24 is a constant expectation of unseen reality. We are saved by faith, but the Christians hope is the return of Christ in all His glory and our complete deliverance from our sinful natures.
Today's Hymn: "Beautiful Garden Of Prayer"
There's a garden where Jesus is waiting, there's a place that is wondrously fair;
For it glows with the light of His presence, It is that beautiful garden of prayer
Oh, the beautiful garden, the garden of prayer, Oh, the beautiful garden of prayer;
There my Savior awaits, and He opens the gates, to the beautiful garden of prayer
Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how thankful we are, that when we took You into our lives, that we became Your sons and daughters, and joint heirs with Christ, and have been adopted into Your Kingdom. We all have an inheritance based on on our relationship with You Abba Father. May we deal with the trials and tribulations here on this earth, knowing that someday we will receive eternal blessings of glory, that we will receive from You, when You welcome us into Your kingdom as being a Good and Faithful Servants.
Amen
Today's Biblical Truth: "The Spirit empowers us, so that we live in a way pleasing to God."
