Bible Scripture Reading for Thursday 29 September 2011

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 29 September 2011"

Today's Blog Title: "Inside and Out"
Today's Scripture Reading: Romans 10:1-21
Today's key Verses: Romans 10:8-11 "'The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on him will not be put to shame."

Paul has shown righteousness has always been a gracious gift, sovereignly bestowed by God on those who have faith (Romans 9).  Now in Chapter 10 he argues that God has not rejected His covenant people.  They have rejected Him.

Paul cares passionately for his people.  He admits their religious zeal (verses 1,2).  But he knows their problem well:  They have "disregarded" God's righteousness and tried to established their own, even though the two are totally different in nature (verses 3-11).  Whether Jew or Gentile, one must be saved by faith. (verses 12-13).

Now we can see another objection.  How can the Jewish race believe not hearing this stunning message? (verses 14,15).  But Paul says, the Good News was preached.  Israel simply did not believe.  "Hearing, " which in Biblical though implies responding appropriately, requires first a message, but then requires understanding and acceptance by those to whom the message is given.  Even in the Old Testament times Israel did not understand and refused to accept what God cried out to them through to them through Moses and the prophets. (verses 15-21).  The message of salvation by faith has echoed throughout history, and has been ignored.

Today's Hymn: "Above All Powers"

Above all powers, Above all kings, Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man, You were here before the world began
Above all kingdoms, Above all thrones, Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth, there's no way to measure what You're worth
Crucified...laid behind the stone, You lived to die...rejected and alone
Like a rose.. trampled on the ground, You took the fall..and thought of me..Above all

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how thankful we as Christians we are for the justification that we have through Jesus Christ the second that we accepted Him into our lives and the work of the Holy Spirit in Christians after justification.  may we as believers continue to trust and obey the guidance and teachings of the Holy Spirit.Thank you Jesus for Your righteousness that we have through our faith and trust in You.
                                                                                                                                   Amen
