"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 1 September 2011"
Today's Blog Title: "His Mercy Endures Forever"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 136:1-26
Today's Key Verses:
Psalm 136:1 "Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever."
Psalm 136:26 "Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For His mercy endures forever."
Psalm 136 is a psalm of descriptive praise. The worship leader would read the first part of the verse and the people would then recite the second part of the verse with their praise centering on the mercy of God: "For His mercy endures forever."
This psalm, known as the the "Great Hallel", was often recited in the temple as the Passover lambs were being slain. The twin themes of creation (verses 1-9), and redemption (verses 10-26), dominate this psalm. They also dominate the Old Testament's vision of God, who is known through these two mightiest of His acts. The word mercy in this psalm was very important to the writer of this psalm. It referred to God's royal love for His people: He was in a covenant with them, and He loves to be loyal to that covenant.
Today's Hymn: "The Old Rugged Cross"
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old rugged cross where the dearest and best,
for a world of lost sinners was slain
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it someday for a crown
Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how thankful we are to you Father for Your mercy that does endureth forever. How thankful we are that Your mercy and grace was so great for us that you sent Your Son Jesus Christ to this world that You created to be our sacrifice upon the Cross of Calvary of our sins. May we as Christians every day when we awake say: "O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for His mercy endureth forever."
Amen
Today's Biblical Truth: "Mercy is also translated to mean "royal love", and is the most significant term used in the the Book of Psalms to describe the character of God."

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day. Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness. Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T", God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".
"Every word of God is pure. He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him." (Proverbs 30:5)
