Bible Scripture Reading for Tuesday 13 September 2011

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 13 September 2011"

Today's Blog Title: "Lifelong Praise"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 146:1-10
Today's Key Verses:
Psalm 146:2 "While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being."
Psalm 146:5 "Happy is he who has God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord."
Psalm 146:8 "The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises those who are bowed down."

Psalm 146 is a psalm of descriptive praise and is a part of the pinnacle praise in this book of praises.  Each of the last five psalms begins and ends with the words, "Praise the Lord" which in Hebrew means: "Hallelujah".  This final set of praises forms and exuberant ending to Israel's responses to the wonder of God and His gracious works on their behalf and it also shows some similarities with wisdom literature.

The psalmist in this psalm will praise God all his life, first because God is Creator and then because God is so gracious to the needy.  Psalm 146 is a personal one.  It is the only one of the last five psalms with the word I (verse 2).  Thus the call to praise is addressed by the psalmist himself.

This psalm has five parts: (1) a call for a life of praise to God (verses 1,2); (2) a warning against putting one's trust even in good people (verses 3,4); (3) a blessing on the one who finds help in God (verses 5-7); (4) a description of the wonderful works of God in the lives of His people (verses 8,9); (5) a call to praise God the great King (verse 10).

Today's Hymn: "Faith Is The Victory"

Encamped along the hills of light, ye Christian soldiers, rise
And press the battle ere the night, shall veil the glowing skies
Against the foe in vales below, Let all our strength be hurled
Faith is the victory we know, that overcomes the world
Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory, that overcomes the world

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, may we as Christians make a strong statement of faith to You Lord that we might praise You all the days of our lives.  May we look to You the God who lives forever to find the ultimate help  in times of trials and tribulations.  May we always praise You as the King of Creation, the King of our salvation, and Your coming rule at the end of time.
                                                                                                                                 Amen

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness.  Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T", God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".
