Bible Scripture Reading for Wednesday 7 September 2011

"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 7 September 2011"

Today's Blog Title: "A Prayer for Protection"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 141:1-10
Today's Key Verses:
Psalm 141: 1 "Lord I cry unto you; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to you."
Psalm 141: 8 "But my eyes are upon you, O Lord; in you I  take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute."

Psalm 141 was written by David and the occasion of this psalm may be stated generally as one of sore temptation, both internal and external.  The fact that almost every verse contains the vocabulary of petition adds to the urgency of David's request.  Thus he prays for God's attention, for His restraint, and for His refuge.

Psalm 141 is considered n individual psalm of lament but there is no particular event cited for David's distress.  Because David also sites David's desire for the judgment of his enemies, it can also be called a imprecatory psalm as well.  David prays this in the evening for protection against sin and from sinners.  He will be safe as long as he keeps his eyes fixed on the Lord.  Isn't that so true even for Christians today?

This psalm has 5 parts: (1) an introductory cry to the Lord (verses 1,2); (2) a prayer for a guard over David's mouth (verses 3,4); (3) an acceptance of righteous rebuke (verse 5); (4) a vision of the punishment of the wicked (verses 6,7); (5) a statement of confidence in the Lord (verses 8-10).

Today's Hymn: "Pass me Not O Gentle Savior"

Let me at Thy throne of mercy, find a sweet relief
Kneeling there in deep contrition, Help my unbelief
Savior, Savior, hear my humble cry
While on others Thou art calling, do not pass me by

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how thankful we are Father that when we pray to You, that You turn Your ear to our prayers and listen to what we Your children bring before You.  In light Lord of the wickedness of this world may we not fix our eyes on nor worry about the things of this wicked world, but may we always fix our eyes upon You.
                                                                                                                                   Amen

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness.  Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T",  God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".

"The generous soul will be made rich, and He who waters will also be watered himself." (Proverbs 11:25)
