Bible Scripture Reading for Saturday 10 September 2011

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 10 September 2011"

Today's Blog Title: "Thanks for Future Blessings"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 144:1-15
Today's Key Verses:
Psalm 144:9 "I will sing a new song to You, O God; On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to you."
Psalm 144:15 "Happy are the people who are in such a state; Happy are the people whose God is the Lord!"

Psalm 144 is a royal psalm written by David, and appears to be a compilation from other psalms (8, 18, 33, 102, 104 but mainly 18).  This is not unusual, since a portion from one psalm may be readily excised and adapted for different usage.  This psalm may be described as the prayer of a king for victory and blessing.

The call to God (verses 1-4), expresses both David's trust (verses 1,2) and his human weakness (verses 3,4) .  Having laced himself in a position of dependency, he is then prepared to offer his petition for divine retaliation against his enemies (verses 5-8), and his promise of thanksgiving, (verse 9) his petition for victory (verses 10,11) , and his petition for the blessing of the people (verses 12-15).

David in this psalm praises God for past victories and prays for His continued intervention.  David is sure God will act and the land will overflow with blessings.

Today's Hymn: "Be Still For The Presence"

Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here
Come, bow before Him now, with reverence and fear
In Him no sin is found, we stand on holy ground
Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how we thank you for your continuing watch care over us.  How thankful we are that we as Christians can come before you boldly and lay are requests at the foot of Your throne because of what Your Son Jesus Christ did for us upon the Cross of Calvary.  May we come before you with humble gratitude and reverence for what You do for us each and every day.
                                                                                                                          Amen

Today's Bible Truth: "Christians have both internal peace and external well being when God is the Lord of their life."

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness.  Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T",  God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".

"For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation." Psalm 149:4.

Your Sister in Christ,
Cindi
