Today's Blog Title: "A Joyful Return to Zion" (Day 7 in the "Songs of Ascent", or "Pilgrim Songs").
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 126:1-6
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 126:5 "Those who sow in tears, Shall reap in joy."
Psalm 126 is a song of Zion and is the seventh of the "Song of Ascent". The main writing of this song is that it comes from the time of the restoration of Jerusalem following the Babylonian captivity. The mood of this psalm is one of of extreme joy following the long year of bondage.
Psalm 126 is both a prayer for captives and a testimony to the conviction that God will bring His people home to Him rejoicing. This psalm has three parts: (1) a description of the return from captivity (verse 1-3); (2) a prayer for God to complete the process of return (verse 4); (3) a comparison of the return from captivity to a long delayed harvest (verses 5,6).

Ere you left your room this morning, Did you think to pray?
In the name of Christ our Savior, Did you sue for loving favor,
As a shield today?
O how praying rests the weary! Prayer will change the night to day
So when life seems dark and dreary, Don't forget to pray
Heaven Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, may we always have a song of joy and praise within our hearts for You. How thankful we are that you have broken the chains of captivity of sin that separated us from You. Thank you for Your Mercy, Your Love and Your Grace that sets us free.
