Bible Scripture Reading for Sunday 21 August 2011

"Greeting in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for Sunday 21 August 2011"

Today's Blog Title: "The Lord the Strength of His People" (Day 6 of the "Songs of Ascent" or "Pilgrim Songs").
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 125:1-5
Today's Key Verses:
Psalms 125:1,2 "Those who trust in the Lord, Are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.  As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the Lord surrounds His people, From this time forth and forever."
Psalm 125:4 "Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, And to those who are upright in their hearts."

Psalm 125 is a psalm of trust and is also a song of Zion.  The writer of this psalm is unknown but is the sixth "Song of Ascent".  Security in the Lord is the keynote of this psalm, an appropriate theme for pilgrims.  It includes a description of security, a prayer for prosperity and a warning of judgment.

Psalm 125 recounts the blessings of relief, bringing as it does assurance that God will do good to those who are good.  This psalm has fours parts: (1) a celebration of God's protection of the righteous (verses 1,2); (2) a declaration that the power of the wicked cannot endure (verse 3); (3) a prayer for the upright (verse 4); (4) a curse on the wicked and a call for the peace of Israel (verse 5).

Today's Hymn: "Peace In The Valley"

Oh well, I'm tired and so weary, But I must go alone
Till the Lord comes and calls, Calls me away, O yes
Well the morning's so bright, And the lamp is alight
And the night, night is as black as the sea, oh yes
There will be peace in the valley for me some day
There will peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
They'll be no sadness, no sorrow, No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus. Holy Spirit, may we as Your children always realize that our true protection comes from Thee.  Jesus while here upon this earth promised that gates of hell will not prevail against His church, and in this same way Your mercy protects us as believers.  Holy Spirit guide us away from the sinfulness of this wicked world and keep our eyes focused on You and our hearts and ears in tuned to your soft and sweet voice.
                                                                                                                                     Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "The Lord will oppose those who do evil."

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness.
Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T",  God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".

"The young loins lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing." (Psalm 34:10)
