Bible Scripture Reading for Sunday 7 August 2011

"Greeting in the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 7 August 2011"

Today's Blog Title: "Celebrating the Exodus"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 114:1-8
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 114:7,8: "Tremble, O Earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of God of Jacob, who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of waters."

Psalm 114 celebrates Israel's deliverance from Egypt.  There is a light lively spirit to this poem that balances the heavier and stronger theology of the first song of deliverance in Exodus 15.  This psalm is recited with Psalm 113 at Passover before the dinner is served.  This psalmist see in the miracles of the Exodus God's mastery of all nature.

This psalm has 3 parts: (1) a celebration of Israel's redemption from Egypt (verses 1,2); (2) a characterization of Israel's enemies (verses 3-6); (3) a celebration of the Lord who redeemed Israel (verses 7,8).

Today's Hymn: "Redeemed How I Love To Proclaim It" (verse 1)

Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it! Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb
Redeemed through His infinite mercy, His child and forever I am
Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb
Redeemed, redeemed, His child and forever I am

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how thankful we are that just as the children of Israel were released from the bondage of the Egyptians, we are as Christians released from the bondage of sin because of the shed blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ which frees us of the chains of sin.  Thank you Lord for the freedom that we have because of our faith and trust in You as our Lord and Savior.
                                                                                                                       Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "God uses His Word to accomplish His purposes"

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with gladness.  Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T",  God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".

"Here I am Lord, Send Me" ( Isaiah 6:8)
