"Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 24 August 2011"
Today's Blog Title: "Blessings of Those Who Fear the Lord" (Day 9 in the "Songs of Ascent" or "Pilgrim Songs").
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 128:1-4
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 128:1 "Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways."
Psalm 128 is the 9th "Song of Ascent." It is a wisdom psalm and is also a psalm of Zion. Like is psalm 127 this psalm addresses God's blessings in the home and family. The feasts of ancient Israel were family affairs.
As families made their way to the holy city for the annual festivals, they would encounter other families and mutually celebrate the goodness of God in their lives. The word "blessed" in verse 1 describes the happiness of those who trust in the Lord and do his will. The fear of the God is an attitude of respect, a response of reverence and wonder. It is the only appropriate response to our Creator and Redeemer.
Only when God grants His peace on us, will the ideal conditions of family life be realized. When we pray for the blessing of God on our families we are praying for the blessing of God on our community. The message of this psalm is: One is never truly happy until he or she is truly holy.
Today's Hymn: "At The Cross"
The body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine, and bathed in its own blood
While the firm of man of wrath divine, His soul in anguish stood
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day!
Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, may we as we arise to a new day on this our temporary home seek you and follow You in all things that we do and say. May be awestruck by Your continuing Love and Grace as our Creator and our Redeemer. May we be on our knees in prayer in an attitude of respect of Your reverence and wonder.
Amen
Today's Biblical Truth: "Lay your burdens at the feet of God and walk away with a song in your heart."

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day. Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness. Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma and you cry out, "I CAN"T", God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".
"For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints." (Proverbs 2:6-8)
