"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 4 August 2011"
Today's Blog Title: "Praise for God's Redemptive Works"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalms 111:1-11
Today's Key Verses: Psalm 111:3,4 "His work is honorable and glorious, And his righteousness endures forever. He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; The Lord is gracious and full of compassion.
Psalm:111:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. Hi praise endures forever.
Psalm 111 is a wisdom psalm and the psalmist expresses his delight in God's work, and he names many that His saints enjoy and which should lead others to hold Him in a reverential way. In verse 10 "the fear of the Lord" describes an obedient response of wonder and awe before the Most High God. We as Christians should show, and live our lives in appreciation of the works of the Lord, and praise Him day and night. His Creation calls attention to the Creator.
This psalm has 3 main parts: (1) a determination to praise God in the midst of the congregation (verse 1); (2) a description of the praise of God for His wonderful works towards His people (verses 2-9); (3) a concluding word tying the nature of true wisdom to the fear of the Lord (verse 10).
Today's Hymn: "How Great Thou Art"
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the words Thy hands has made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sing my soul, My Savior God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, as we look upon Your creation we are in awe of what a Powerful and Almighty God You are. How thankful we are that You are our Father, and our Loving God. How thankful we are for the redemptive power of Your Son Jesus Christ whose blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness. May be bask in your Glory and Your love forevermore.
Amen
Today's Biblical Truth: "Our Almighty God is wonderfully gracious and full of compassion."
