Bible Scripture Reading for Saturday 6 August 2011

"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ"

Today's Blog Title: "The Praise of the Poor"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 113:1-9
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 113:1-3 "Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, Praise the name of the Lord!  Blessed be the name of the Lord, from this time forth and forevermore!  From the rising of the sun to its going down, the Lords name is to be praised."

The psalmist in this psalm calls us to praise because of God's grace, which reaches out to the poor and needy and lifts them up.

This psalm is a psalm of descriptive praise and begins and ends with the words "Praise the Lord!"  This psalm and Psalm 114 are regularly recited at Passover before the serving of the meal.  Psalm 115-118 are recited after the meal.

In this psalm there are 3 main parts:  (1) an exhortation to praise the name of the Lord (verses
1-3); (2) a celebration of the transcendent glory and abundant mercy of the Lord (verses 4-6); (3) illustration of God's grace (verses 7-9).

Today's Hymn: "God Will Make A Way" (verse 1)

God will make a way, where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see, He will make a way for me
He will be my guide, hold me closely to His side
With love and strength, for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, thank you for the ability that you have given us to approach you in prayer because of our faith and trust in You as our Lord and Savior.  Hear our prayers O Lord as we call unto Thee.  May we as Christians understand that it is not the issue of how much time we spend with You in prayer, but it is seeking You throughout the day, and knowing that You are there.
                                                                                  Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "Prayer is an acknowledgement of our need for God"

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness.  Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T",  God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".

Here I am Lord, Send ME'
