Today's Blog Title: "A Call to Trust God"
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 115:1-18
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 115:11 "You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield."
The psalmist in these passages ridicules Israel's trust in idols and calls passionately for return to faith in the Lord. This psalm is also a community psalm of praise and focuses on the glory of the Lord in the salvation of His people. Several sections of this psalm are used in Psalm 135.
Recommittment to God as Christians will bring His blessings upon us so that our cup, will overflow with His Love, Mercy and Grace.
This psalm has 5 main parts: (1) a glorification of the Lord who alone deserves praise (verses 1,2); (2) a comparison of the false gods and the true, Living God (verses 3-8); (3) a litany of trust in the Lord (verses 9-11); (4) a litany of blessing in the Lord (verses 12-15); (5) a glorification of the Lord (verses 16-18).
Today's Hymn: "Turn You Eyes Upon Jesus" (verse 1)
O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see?
There's a light for a look at the Savior, and life more abundant and free
Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full into His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace
Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how thankful we are as Christians that we serve the true and Living Almighty God. How thankful we are that our God listens and responds to our prayers and that You take our burdens upon Yourself. Thank Jesus that with Your death and resurrection You freed us from the chains of sin and that we have been cleansed of all unrighteousness.
