"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 28 August 2011"
Today's Blog Title: "The Eternal Dwelling of God in Zion" (Day 13 in the "Songs of Ascent", or "The Pilgrim Songs").
Today's Scripture Reading: "Psalm 132:1-18
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 132:7 "Let us go into His tabernacle; Let us worship at His footstool."
Psalm 132 is a royal psalm and is the thirteenth "Song of Ascent". This psalm like Psalm 89, reflects in poetry God's covenant with in which He promised David a royal house, a promise that would be fulfilled in the coming of the great Savior King.
It is possible that this psalm was written late in Israel's history, after the exile in Babylon. This would explain the people's call for God to remember His covenant with David. With no King on the royal throne of David, the people had great reason to call upon God to remember His promise.
Psalm 132 is the longest of the "Song of Ascent", and is sometimes classified as a messianic psalm. The psalmist realized that belief in God's promises forms the basis for the saint's prayer. It is a prayer to be used in public worship. It recalls the joy that marked the day that David brought the ark to Jerusalem and celebrates not only God's presence, but His promise that the Messiah will come from David's line.
Today's Hymn: "The Wonderful Cross"
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all of my pride
Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how thankful we are that we have the promises of Thy Holy Word. How thankful we are Lord how everything that happens in this world and this Your universe falls into place in accordance to Your will. Thank You for Your Love, Mercy and Grace that You provide all those who have taken You as there Lord and Savior.
Amen
Today's Biblical Truth: "The Messiah's kingdom will be established forever, and His enemies will not withstand Him."
Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day. Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness. Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out,"I CAN'T", God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".
"You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance." (Psalm 32:7)
