Images of God's Word (Part 1)

The honeycomb in Psalms 119:103, was the sweetest substance known in the ancient world.  No refined sugar was available, but bees were plentiful in the agricultural highlands of Palestine, and their produce was highly valved by the Israelites.  To say that Scripture is sweeter than honey is to say the psalmist values it more than any pleasure.  We as Christians and Believers today such have the same attitude and desire about God's as that of David.

Scripture is sweet to our taste:
It renews our life (verses 89-96)
It makes us wiser than  our enemies (verses 97-104)
It sustains our hope (verses 113-120)
It shapes our values (Verses 121-128)
It gives understanding to the simple (verses 129-136)
It provides inner delight (verses 137-144)
It gives us confidence in prayer (verses 145-152)
It is filled with promises (verses 153-160)
It causes us to praise (Verses 161-168)
It causes us to overflow with praise (verses 169-176)

Word in Psalm 119:105 means the utterance of the Lord God.  That God speaks to us His people indicates His wonderful grace.  In this verse the palmist describes God's Word as light, that is, a guide for living.  In verse 130 the light refers to understanding.

In verse 127 "Commandments" pertain to anything the Lord God has ordered.  The word alludes to God's authority to govern His people.  The commandments of God are positive and negative, specific and general, restrictive and permissive.  Yet most important, they help us a Christians to identify his or her way in a world that is filled with confusion, sin and error.

Today's Hymn: "Give Of You Best To The Master"

Give of Your best to the Master, give Him first place in your heart
Give Him first place in your service, consecrate every part
Give, and to you will be given, God His beloved Son gave
Gratefully seeking to serve Him, give Him the best that you have
Give of your best to the Master; Give of the strength of your youth
Clad in Salvation's full armor; Join in the Battle for truth

Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how thankful we are for Your stability of the universe and the heavens which mirrors Your faithfulness, love and care.  May we study your Word and may it be sweet like honey unto our soul's.  Thank you Lord for your promise to show mercy to those that love You.
                                                                                                            Amen

Today's Biblical Truth: "God's word is a light, that is a guide for living."

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day.  Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness.  Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, " I CAN'T", God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".

"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him."  (1 Chronicles 16:9)
