"Greetings in the Name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for 29 August 2011"
Today's Blog Title: "Blessed Unity of the People of God" (Day 14 of the "Songs of Ascent", or "The Pilgrim Songs").
Today's Scripture Reading: Psalm 133:1-3
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 133:1 "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is, for brethren to dwell together in unity!"
Psalm 133 is the fourteenth "Song of Ascent" and was written by David. With its focus on the unity of believers this psalm anticipates Jesus prayer in John 17.
Good and pleasant in verse 1 may be rephrased as "Great delight" or "good pleasure". The is a sense of awe in these words describing the unity of God's people. When God's people live together in unity they experience God's blessing.
The intent of God in this psalm is for the good of His people in this life and in the life to come. The people of Israel rarely experienced or achieved the level of unity--or the level of blessing that the poem describes. This is a psalm this is a portrait of the kingdom of God. One day there will be the spiritual unity of God's people that this poem describes.
This psalm has two parts: (1) a portrait of the beauty of unity (verse 1); (2) the blessing of unity (verses 2,3).
Today's Hymn: "Praise Him! Praise Him!
Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer,
Sing, O Earth, His wonderful love proclaim!
Hail Him! Hail Him! highest archangels in glory
Strength and honor give to His Holy Name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children
In His arms He carries them all day long
Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness
Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song!
Heavenly Father, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, how we as Christians look forward to the day when we will be in perfect unity with Thee in Thy kingdom. May we as as we continue to live upon this earth bond together as Christians and continue to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to this lost and dying world. How thankful we are that Jesus is indeed the Good Shepherd and that He guards and protects us and does carry us in His arms all the day long.
Amen
Today's Biblical Truth: "There will always be an element of mystery in God's dealings with us. We need to accept this and remain unshaken in our trust."

Have a God Filled and Spirit Led Day. Go in Peace and Serve the Lord our God with Gladness. Love God More Today and always remember that when you have a spiritual dilemma in your life and you yell out, "I CAN'T", God Whispers to you, "BUT I CAN".
